White Villa

A complete renovation, inside and out, of an old existing house in Shanghai — the first major project led two years after graduating. The design rests on a deliberate contrast: bright white plaster against exposed dark timber beams, black steel windows and dark wood floors. The central courtyard, arranged around a fountain and lined with banana trees, spreads light into the living spaces. The brief covers the whole house: double living room, dining room, island kitchen, library-study, suites under cathedral roof trusses and marble bathrooms.
